Day 1:

Arrival to the High Tatras

Arrival to the High Tatras. On arrival, meet a local representative for a brief welcome and practical briefing. Receive maps, and useful tips for your upcoming self-guided hikes.

Day 2:

Between the High Tatras and White Tatras

“Warm up” hiking through the alpine meadows under the scenic and expressively carved peaks of the White Tatras to the mountain hut by the Green lake (1.551 m) – located under the tallest (900 m) rock climbing wall in the High Tatras.

Summary: 5 hours of hiking, 13 km, ↗780 m, ↘ 235 m, highest point 1.750 m

Day 3:

Around the second highest peak of the High Tatras

Morning climb of the Marmot peak (2.037 m) – great view of the White Tatras. Hiking below the second highest peak – Lomnicky peak (2.633 m) – to mountain hut “Zamkovskeho chata”.

Summary: 4 hours of hiking, 10 km, ↗615 m, ↘ 705 m, highest point 2.023 m

Day 4:

In the shadow of the highest peak of the Carpathians

Hike in the vicinity of Gerlach Peak (2,655 m), the tallest summit in the High Tatras and Carpathians. Optional ascent of Vychodna Vysoka (2,429 m) offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

Summary: 4-7,5 hours of hiking, 10-18 km, ↗640m-1.409 m, ↘ 705 m-1.190 m, highest point 2.429 m

Day 5:

Scenic Grand Traverse hike (Tatranská magistrála)

Comfortable hiking along the Grand Traverse trail called Magistrala – the longest hiking trail in the High Tatras connecting all southern valleys. Fabulous views of the highest peaks (Mt. Gerlach, 2.656 m) and several mountain lakes.

Summary: 4 hours of hiking, 11 km, ↗606 m, ↘ 766 m, highest point 2.045 m

Day 6:

Rysy – the highest peak of Poland

Hiking in the wide open Mengusovska valley, climb over a rock terrace secured by chains, along the highest located Tatra mountain hut (2.250 m) up to Rysy peak (2.499 m) – great view of both sides of Tatras (Polish and Slovak one).

Summary: 6 hours of hiking, 12 km, ↗1.060 m, ↘1.060 m, highest point 2.499 m

Day 7:

Departure

The tour ends after breakfast with your descent to the tram stop and departure to Poprad or Krakow. On the way, enjoy a scenic drive around the Tatras and take time to reflect on your self-guided hiking adventure.
